Where they are:
Children are naturally receptive to music, and our Family Music classes are designed to nurture this innate ability. From infants to preschoolers, children at every developmental stage can explore and enjoy music. Whether your child is just starting to bob to the beat or already singing their heart out, our classes meet them at their level, enriching their musical journey every step of the way.
What to expect in class:
In Family Music, you can expect a vibrant and engaging mixed-age setting where both you and your little(s) one can delve into the world of music. This class is designed for siblings so please bring along all of your kids 6 months to 5 years old! Each session is packed with activities that explore different musical techniques, styles and instruments, going beyond music to foster social and emotional skills. Through playful and interactive activities, children learn to express themselves and connect with others in a supportive environment.
Benefits:
Physical: Our classes offer plenty of time for sensory exploration, which is essential for developing motor skills. As children clap, dance or play instruments, they’re not just having fun; they’re also improving their coordination and becoming more aware of their bodies. These physical activities are important for young children’s overall growth and development.
Cognitive: Music naturally activates the parts of the brain that are responsible for music and speech processing. Engaging with music from an early age helps children nurture an appreciation for its beauty while supporting language development and early literacy skills. It’s a delightful way to prepare your little one for future learning in a fun and engaging way!
Social: Music is a universal language that expresses a range of emotions, from joy to sadness and everything in between. Our classes teach children to recognise and respond to these emotions in music, mirroring the way they learn to understand their own and others’ feelings. This emotional awareness is a key component of social development, helping children better navigate the world around them.
Adults: For adults, these classes offer much more than just a playful hour with your child – they are a chance to truly bond. Active participation allows you to see the world through your child’s eyes and deepen your emotional connection. It’s also a perfect opportunity to connect with other parents and caregivers in a community all striving to support their children’s growth and happiness. Through music, we create a space where both children and adults can grow, learn and connect.
